A year earlier to the day, when I made this trek last summer, the lake was entirely frozen over, and I wondered what I'd find for ice this year. Fortunately, I timed things just right, watching most the remaining ice sheet melt during the first day I spent on the shores of this beautiful, alpine lake. I used a 70

and while the result was encouraging it certainly didn't do any justice to what I saw in my mind
