With the sighting of a distant lighthouse in the fog, there is finally a path to safety, and the restoration of hope. Lighthouse in the Fog is a programmatic work for string orchestra that paints this picture musically. The opening measures describe the vast dark ocean

"La Cucaracha (the Cockroach)" is a traditional and probably very old Mexican Folk Song

and a contrasting middle section in 4

"Romanian Waltz"
