The Quest (LP) DJ KrushThe Quest van pianist Mal Waldron, opgenomen in de Rudy Van Gelder Studios in New Jersey in juni 1961, werd in juli 1962 uitgebracht op het New Jazz label. Het bevat Eric Dolphy (altsax, klarinet), Booker Ervin (tenorsax), Ron Carter ( cello), Joe Benjamin (contrabas) en Charlie Persip (drums). Waldron componeerde alle zeven nummers die ergens tussen hardbop en avant garde liggen, inclusief de jazzstandaard Fire Waltz.
