A Wintry Domain flowerA lone bull bison walks the Soda Butte Creek Valley in Yellowstone National Park during the dead of winter. Even on a year like 2026 without the usual waist deep snow, this land has the feel of harsh weather and tough living. I shot this black and white photo in high resolution medium format and then cropped the image to the standard 2: 3 aspect ratio. These largely solitary animals are tough as nails

Perched in a winter maple tree
